Vernon Humbert’s immediate family all have a musical bent. His wife Laraine plays the piano, as does the eldest of their three daughters, who is a pilot in the Navy. His middle daughter plays percussion and is a social worker in Miami, and his youngest plays the violin and is an avid horsewoman.
What do you want patrons of the Symphony to know about you?
I am a Registered Piano Technician, I enjoy conducting, and the greatest job I have had is being a father.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a professional musician?
Running a Dairy Queen franchise. Everybody who goes to a Dairy Queen is happy and wants to have some fun.
What do you do in your spare time (other than practice!)?
Enjoy movies, eat out with my wife, and take care of my home.
What is your favorite thing about being a professional musician?
The sense of leading the listener into a unique moment of well-being.
