Deborah Heller

Third Flute - Piccolo

Deborah Heller, piccolo

What do you want patrons of the Symphony to know about you?
Two things – I would like to turn down the decibel level of modern life – most of us are willing participants in the constant strafing of our eardrums AND my wish list includes an equestrian tour of Ireland.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a professional musician?
Something that would not require earplugs.

What do you do in your spare time (other than practice!)?
Rein in Mother Nature on our property (yard work), care and feeding of two dogs and a horse, exploring state parks and forests on horseback

What is your favorite thing about being a professional musician?
I have a better than front row seat at concerts

What sport(s) do you participate in?
Swimming, snow skiing

Do you have a favorite team?
The inspirational 1980 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team

What is your favorite food?
Lay’s potato chips

Who is your favorite composer?
Prokofiev (angular, sometimes treacherous, but gorgeous melodies)

What’s currently on your Ipod?
No Ipod – not a fan of earbuds.
