Glynda Newton

What do you want patrons of the Symphony to know about you?
My mother and grandmother were violinists. Grandmother Glynda, my namesake, was a soloist with radio orchestras and social orchestras in the 20’s and 30’s from New York to Miami.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a professional musician?
I have a fascination for all types of theatrical costuming. Copying haut couture designs, creating Star Trek Klingon fashions, wearing 16th century St. Augustine Spanish dresses and southern belle finery from the Civil War era are just a sample of my interest in this.

What do you do in your spare time (other than practice!)?
My husband and I are very involved with the Sister Cities Program Nantes. We are Francophiles and love French wine, and cooking French cuisine, especially crepes.
