Through the combination of live symphonic music and colorful dance, The First Coast Nutcracker Ballet, Inc. has been a rich tradition in North Florida for 45 years.  From education to entertainment, The First Coast Nutcracker impacts the surrounding community on many levels.

Entertainment for All Ages

The combination of Tchaikovsky’s engaging music played by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra illustrated with lively choreography, noted guest artists, beautiful costumes and fabulous sets contribute to a grand introduction to classical music and dance for young people and quality entertainment for adults. Four full-length performances will be offered in the Moran Theater on December 16, 17, and 18.

Embracing our Artists of the Future

The First Coast Nutcracker stages the production of a world-class ballet which allows more than 180 young community dance students the unique opportunity to work with renowned choreographers, attend professionally supervised weekly classes to learn repertoire and to perform in a full-length ballet with internationally known guest artists accompanied by live music from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.

Inspiring Young Minds

The educational performances of the First Coast Nutcracker provide an opportunity for over 7,500 students to attend special performances offered for school children at greatly reduced prices on December 15 and 16. In addition, a 14 page educational guide is provided for each student prior to attending a performance. This booklet is designed as a resource for teachers to introduce students to the symphony, the ballet and instructions on how to be a good audience member. The Educational Guide is also made available to all children attending any of our public performances and may be used to guide children through the performance.

A Community Service Program

Making the Ballet accessible to as many families as possible is a commitment held by the First Coast Nutcracker. Each year 1250 community service tickets are given to deserving families throughout the First Coast region. These recipients are families who would otherwise be unable to attend without assistance. Additionally, any students that an attending school deems unable to pay for the educational performances are granted admission free of charge. This mission continues to be vital to the First Coast Nutcracker as it is important for all to have the opportunity to experience the wonder of music and dance.
